Privacy Policy
ClutterLens for macOS
Last updated: June 17, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how ClutterLens ("ClutterLens", "the app", "we", "us", or "our"), developed by ZenByte Apps, handles information when you use our macOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and designed ClutterLens to operate entirely on your device.
ClutterLens helps you find duplicate files and reclaim storage space on your Mac. By using ClutterLens, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please discontinue use of the app.
2. Information We Collect
ClutterLens is designed to be privacy-first. The app does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use its features.
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact details through the app.
- We do not collect, transmit, or store the contents of your files.
- We do not use advertising identifiers or tracking technologies.
- We do not use analytics services to profile your behavior.
The only information processed outside your device is limited, anonymized crash and diagnostic data, as described in Sections 4 and 8 below.
3. Local File Processing
All file scanning, duplicate detection, comparison, and analysis performed by ClutterLens occurs locally on your Mac. Your files and their contents:
- Are never uploaded to any external server, cloud service, or third party.
- Are never transmitted off your device by ClutterLens.
- Remain entirely under your control at all times.
ClutterLens only accesses the folders and drives you explicitly select for scanning. You maintain full control over which locations are analyzed and over every file deletion decision. ClutterLens never deletes files automatically without your review and confirmation.
4. Crash Reporting and Diagnostics
To keep ClutterLens stable and reliable, the app uses Sentry solely for crash reporting and application diagnostics. If the app encounters an error or crashes, limited technical information may be collected to help us identify and fix the problem.
This diagnostic information may include details such as the app version, the macOS version, device model, and a technical description of the error (for example, a crash stack trace). This data does not include the contents of your files, file names of scanned items, or any personal information.
5. How Information Is Used
The limited diagnostic information collected is used exclusively to:
- Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and technical issues.
- Improve the stability, performance, and reliability of ClutterLens.
- Understand the technical environments in which errors occur.
We do not use this information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to maintaining and improving the app. We do not sell this information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
6. Data Storage
Your files, scan results, and app preferences are stored locally on your Mac. ClutterLens does not maintain a copy of your files or scan data on any external server.
Crash and diagnostic reports are transmitted to and stored by our crash reporting provider (Sentry) and retained only for as long as necessary to diagnose and resolve issues, after which they are deleted in accordance with the provider's retention practices.
7. Third-Party Services
ClutterLens uses a single third-party service: Sentry, which is used exclusively for crash reporting and application diagnostics. No other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are integrated into the app.
The diagnostic data shared with Sentry is processed in accordance with Sentry's own privacy practices. We encourage you to review Sentry's privacy policy at https://sentry.io/privacy/.
8. Sentry Crash Reporting
We want to be fully transparent about our use of Sentry:
- Sentry is used solely for crash reporting and application diagnostics.
- Diagnostic data sent to Sentry does not include the contents of your scanned files or the data within them.
- Sentry is not used to track your activity, build a user profile, or serve advertising.
- The information helps us understand why a crash occurred so we can release fixes and improvements.
9. Data Security
Because ClutterLens processes your files locally and does not upload them, your file data is protected by the security of your own Mac and macOS. Diagnostic data transmitted for crash reporting is sent over encrypted connections to help protect it in transit.
While we take reasonable measures to safeguard the limited diagnostic information we handle, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
ClutterLens is a general-purpose utility application and is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal information from any user, no personal data of children is gathered. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the app, or legal requirements. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of ClutterLens after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Contact Information
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your privacy while using ClutterLens, please contact us:
